سورة الأعراف، الآية ١٦٨Surah Al-A'raf, ayah 168 (7:168)
وَقَطَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أُمَمًا مِّنۡهُمُ ٱلصَّٰلِحُونَ وَمِنۡهُمۡ دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَبَلَوۡنَٰهُم بِٱلۡحَسَنَٰتِ وَٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُونَ ١٦٨
The meaning in English
And We have broken them (i.e. the Jews) up into various separate groups on the earth: some of them are righteous and some are away from that. And We tried them with good (blessings) and evil (calamities) in order that they might turn (to Allâh’s Obedience).

التفسير الميسر
وفرَّقنا بني إسرائيل في الأرض جماعات، منهم القائمون بحقوق الله وحقوق عباده، ومنهم المقصِّرون الظالمون لأنفسهم، واختبرنا هؤلاء بالرخاء في العيش والسَّعَة في الرزق، واختبرناهم أيضًا بالشدة في العيش والمصائب والرزايا؛ رجاء أن يرجعوا إلى طاعة ربهم ويتوبوا من معاصيه
