سورة الشورى، الآية ١٤Surah Ash-Shuraa, ayah 14 (42:14)

The meaning in English

And they divided not till after knowledge had come to them, through (selfish) transgression between themselves. And had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord for an appointed term, the matter would have been settled between them. And verily, those who were made to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Taurâh (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] after them (i.e. Jews and Christians) are in grave doubt concerning it (i.e. Allâh’s true religion - Islâm or the Qur’ân).

التفسير الميسر

وما تفرَّق المشركون بالله في أديانهم فصاروا شيعًا وأحزابًا إلا مِن بعد ما جاءهم العلم وقامت الحجة عليهم، وما حملهم على ذلك إلا البغي والعناد، ولولا كلمة سبقت من ربك -أيها الرسول- بتأخير العذاب عنهم إلى أجل مسمى وهو يوم القيامة، لقضي بينهم بتعجيل عذاب الكافرين منهم. وإن الذين أورثوا التوراة والإنجيل من بعد هؤلاء المختلفين في الحق لفي شك من الدين والإيمان موقعٍ في الريبة والاختلاف المذموم
